Useful Wireless Communication
Transfer of information over a distance with no use of electrical conductors such as wires is referred as wireless communication. These distances involved may sometime be as short as a few meters are in case of a television remote control or may be very long like thousands or even millions of kilometers for radio communications. When we are not talking about something in particular then a very broad term namely wireless is used. It is actually considered to be one of the branches of telecommunications. Wireless is a term which is usually used in the telecommunications industry to refer to those telecommunications systems which use some form of energy like that of radio frequency, infrared light, visible light, laser light and many more, to transfer information without using the wires. Information is then transferred easily over both long and short distances.
There are many types of fixed, mobile and also portable two way radios, PDAs and wireless networking. Other examples include GPS units, garage doors, wireless keyboards, cordless telephones, wireless cameras and many more. The term wireless communication means those communications in which electromagnetic waves or RF (rather than some other form of wire) carry a signal over either a part of or the entire communication path. There are many examples of wireless equipment present in the world and being used by all of us in our daily lives.
It is true that wireless communication may be via microwave communication like long range line of sight via highly directional antennas or say short range communication. It may also take place via infrared (IR) which means a short term communication for example from remote controls or via IRDA. In addition to this, it may also be via radio frequency communication which is quite common these days. These applications may involve some sort of point to point communication, point to multipoint communication, broadcasting, other wireless networks and also involve some cellular networks.
Wireless does not in any context mean cordless which is generally used to refer to those devices which are either electrical or electronic and are able to operate from a portable power source like a battery pack without any cable or cord to restrict the portability of the cordless device through a connection to the main power supply. Some cordless devices such as cordless telephones are also wireless form in a way that the information is transferred from the cordless telephone to the telephone’s base unit via some type of wireless communications link. This has some how caused some sort of disparity in the usage of the term cordless.
Wireless communication industry has experienced and gone through some real drastic changes driven by almost all types of technology innovations. Wireless networking is used to meet a range of need like the most common need is to connect the laptop users who travel from one place to another. Some other common use may be for mobile networks that connect via satellite. A wireless transmission method is logical choice to network a LAN segment that must frequently change locations. The following situations in a great way justify the use of wireless technology. You can visit different websites to know more about wireless communication.
